Pregnancy is a very exciting time and brings so many changes – including to your body.
Regular exercise during pregnancy can also decrease the risk of pregnancy-related complications such as pregnancy-induced hypertension and pre-eclampsia while helping you prepare for labour and the postpartum period.
Our qualified personal trainers will help soon to-be mums create prenatal exercise programs that will get your heart pumping (just enough), help you manage weight gain and keep you as fit and strong as possible so that you’re as ready as you can be for your new baby.
We will teach you the proper way to execute and modify your exercises through the different stages of your pregnancy.
You can usually start getting back into exercise six weeks after giving birth since most of the changes that occurred during pregnancy will have returned to normal.
If you had a c-section birth, a difficult/traumatic birth, or complications, it may take a little longer to feel ready to start exercising, physically and/or emotionally – you should discuss this with your healthcare provider.
If you did not exercise during pregnancy, start with easy exercises and slowly build up to harder ones.
This is a great time to work with a qualified personal trainer as your lower back and core abdominal muscles are weaker than they used to be. Your ligaments and joints are also more supple and pliable, so it is easier to injure yourself by stretching or twisting too much.
